An Advanced Adventure license expands your certified depth limit to 30 metres (100 feet) – opening up a new range of diving possibilities!
The SSI Advanced Adventure program was created so the student can sample a variety of speciality courses before completing to a full course.
If you decide to advance in your scuba diving and do a full course in any of the specialities, you tried the course you took can be applied to your advanced certification

What’s Involved in our SSI Advanced Adventurer Course?
SSI Advanced Adventure Course Duration
Our SSI Advanced Adventure scuba dive course is conducted alongside any standard dive trip.
Five training dives can be completed at any time over a 2-day (1-night) Cairns Liveaboard dive Tour or spread out over a longer stay onboard Reef Encounter – allowing you to get the most out of your dive training while enjoying your holiday on the Great Barrier Reef!
Scuba Dive Training
Five speciality dives are in the following core areas:
- Deep Diving – up to 30 metres (100 feet)
- Underwater Navigation
- Night Diving
- Underwater Naturalist
- Boat Diving
Other elective scuba dive options may also be available.
- Perfect Buoyancy
- Search and Recovery
- Underwater Photography
Academics
You will be required to participate in theory discussions with your Scuba Dive Instructor for each training dive and show a good understanding of each area.
There is no formal bookwork or written examinations.
Pre-Requisites:
- An Open Water Diver Licence or above – (SSI, PADI, or the equivalent certification with another training agency)
- 2 x passport photographs required for certification
- Minimum age 12 years. Children under the age of 15 must be accompanied by a parent or adult over the age of 18
Did you know that if you have a PADI certification, you can interchange between the two agencies i.e. you can do your advanced adventurer course with SSI when you have your PADI open water certification and visa versa.
