Saxon Reef ( Latitude 16°27’45″, Longitude 145°59’25″) 55km Northeast of Cairns, is a patch reef on the Outer Barrier Reef. Saxon Reef is a great spot for snorkelling and diving. It features shallow bommies, or coral mounds, that are home to a wide variety of marine life. There are large patches of staghorn coral and numerous swim-throughs and gullies to explore.

Visitors can spot turtles, large cod, schools of damsels and fusiliers. In addition, larger marine life such as tuna, mackerel, trevally, and barracuda can also be seen at Saxon Reef.

This reef’s lagoon region is covered in enormous boulder corals and smaller bommies. You can discover a wonderful underwater world because to the diverse seascape.
