“I have never dived. Can I do a course?”

Yes. An Open Water course starts from the beginning: theory, skills practice, then training dives on the reef with an instructor. You finish as a certified diver. Our learn to scuba dive guide explains each step.

“How long does it take?”

Four days with the Ocean Quest or Pro Dive Cairns 4-day course, or five days with the Pro Dive Cairns 5-day course. Part of each course is spent living on a liveaboard boat on the outer reef.

“I am already certified. What next?”

The PADI Advanced Open Water course builds your skills with five training dives. Choose the 2 day, 1 night or 3 day, 2 night liveaboard.

“Do I need a dive medical?”

Everyone completes a dive medical questionnaire. If you answer yes to any medical question, you will need a dive medical from a doctor before you dive. See medical requirements and the AS4005.1 dive medical form.

“I just want to try diving first.”

You can try an introductory dive with an instructor on a reef day trip, with no certification needed. See diving day tours.
